Doctor Jobs in Sharjah for France-Trained Doctors

France-trained doctors can work in Sharjah with a Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) licence for private and local government facilities, or a MOHAP licence for federal hospitals. Both apply the Unified PQR, so Tier 1 French specialists and consultants are exempt from the licensing exam. Allocation Assist, a Dubai-based consultancy founded in 2015, runs the full route in-house: eligibility, DataFlow verification, exam or exemption, registration, and placement. Most Tier 1 cases complete in around three months.

Who this page is for

This is for France-trained doctors who want a consultant, specialist, or GP post in Sharjah and need the licence that goes with it. We work with doctors trained in the UK, Europe and other Western systems, so a French medical background sits squarely in what we do. Your French qualifications, the Diplôme d’État de docteur en médecine and, for specialists, a Diplôme d’Études Spécialisées, are assessed against the Unified PQR tiers to set your licence title and the experience it requires. You can begin while you are still practising in France.

The SHA and MOHAP licensing route for France-trained doctors

Since 15 July 2025, the Sharjah Health Authority licenses doctors in Sharjah’s private and local government facilities, while federal hospitals run by Emirates Health Services stay with MOHAP. Which one you need depends on your employer, and the route runs in six stages either way. Our MOH (MOHAP) licence consultancy handles the federal side in detail.

1

Eligibility assessment

We check your specialty and country of training against the Unified PQR before you spend anything, so you know your likely tier and title from the start. Start with the free eligibility check.

2

Evaluation or assessment

You apply with UAE PASS. MOHAP charges AED 500 for the professional evaluation and reviews it within 5 working days; SHA charges AED 500 for physicians and states 8 working days.

3

Account and application

We set up and manage your file on the SHA or MOHAP portal through UAE PASS so it is structured correctly from the first entry.

4

Document preparation and upload

We review every document against the current checklist, because rejected documents are the most common cause of delay.

5

DataFlow primary source verification

Your credentials are verified with the issuing institutions. This usually takes around four to eight weeks, and every document needs a positive report before your file moves on.

6

Exam or exemption, then registration

Tier 1 French specialists and consultants are exempt from the licensing exam under the Unified PQR. French GPs sit it. MOHAP sets a 60% pass mark and allows three attempts, and SHA exams are delivered by Prometric. Once you pass or are exempt, your employer applies for the licence.

Which licence do you need: SHA, MOHAP, DHA, or DOH?

For a Sharjah role you need an SHA licence if the employer is a private or local government facility, and a MOHAP licence for France-trained doctors if it is a federal hospital. Dubai uses the DHA and Abu Dhabi the DOH. The employer decides the regulator, not where you live.

AuthorityWho it coversFor a Sharjah role?
SHAPrivate and local government facilities in Sharjah, including free zonesYes, for private and local roles
MOHAPFederal hospitals run by Emirates Health Services, plus Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and FujairahYes, for federal hospitals
DHADubaiNo
DOHAbu Dhabi, Al AinNo

A MOHAP licence also covers the other northern emirates, which helps if you are open to Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain. For roles outside the northern emirates, the Dubai route is set out in doctor jobs in Dubai for France-trained doctors and the Abu Dhabi route in doctor jobs in Abu Dhabi, and you can see how UAE medical licensing works across all the authorities.

Salary and package for doctors in Sharjah

Tax-free, paid as a package

Doctors in Sharjah earn tax-free salaries, and the exact figure depends on your grade, specialty, and experience. Packages commonly add, on top of base pay:

  • A housing allowance
  • Annual flights
  • Health insurance

The doctor grade and salary estimator gives a range for your profile.

Working and living in Sharjah

Sharjah gives doctors a lower cost of living than Dubai while keeping Dubai within a short commute. The emirate’s hospitals span both public and private groups:

  • University Hospital Sharjah
  • Al Qassimi Hospital
  • NMC Royal Hospital Sharjah
  • Medcare Hospital Sharjah
  • Al Zahra Hospital

The main employers are profiled in Sharjah hospitals for doctors. If your role is with a federal hospital, a MOHAP licence also covers Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain, so you can consider roles across the northern emirates without a second application.

How we help French doctors move to Sharjah

We run licensing and placement together, so your registration and your job search move at the same time rather than one after the other. Our in-house team handles the parts that cost doctors the most time: the eligibility and tier check, the SHA or MOHAP application, document review, DataFlow from submission to a positive report, exam booking or exemption, and MOH registration. Because we work with hospital groups across Sharjah and the northern emirates, we connect you to roles that match your specialty as your registration completes. The route runs in three steps.

Frequently asked questions

Can a French-trained doctor work in Sharjah?

Yes. A France-trained doctor can practise in Sharjah with an SHA licence for a private or local government facility, or a MOHAP licence for a federal hospital, plus an offer from a licensed employer. We manage the licence and the job match together.

Which licence do French doctors need for Sharjah?

It depends on the employer. Since July 2025, the Sharjah Health Authority licenses doctors in private and local government facilities in Sharjah, while federal hospitals stay with MOHAP. Dubai uses the DHA and Abu Dhabi uses the DOH.

Do French doctors have to sit the MOH exam?

Not if you are a Tier 1 specialist or consultant. SHA and MOHAP both apply the Unified PQR, where France is on the exemption lists for Tier 1 specialists and consultants. French GPs sit the exam; MOHAP sets a 60% pass mark with a maximum of three attempts.

How long does the MOH licence take?

Most Tier 1 doctors complete the licensing process in around three months. The main variable is DataFlow verification, which usually takes around four to eight weeks. Applications needing an exam or extra documentation can take longer.

What does a MOH licence cost?

MOHAP charges AED 500 for the evaluation, then AED 100 plus AED 3,000 for a private-facility licence. SHA charges AED 500 for the physician assessment and AED 3,000 for a full-time physician licence. DataFlow and any exam fee are extra, and we give you a full breakdown of authority fees and our consultancy fee before you commit.

What documents do French doctors need?

You need recognised educational certificates with transcripts, a valid home-country licence or registration, a good standing certificate issued within the last six months, a passport copy and photo, and, for surgical specialties, a two-year signed logbook, plus any required translations and attestations.

What salary can a doctor expect in Sharjah?

Salaries are tax-free and set by your grade, specialty, and experience. Use our salary estimator for a figure for your profile, and we confirm the package during placement.

Can my family relocate with me?

Yes. We support your family’s move, including visa steps and guidance on schools and settling in, alongside your own relocation.
