Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) is a flagship tertiary government hospital in the UAE and the largest teaching medical centre in Abu Dhabi. SKMC comprises a 441-bed acute care hospital and 16 Outpatient Specialty Clinics, providing exceptional and comprehensive surgical and medical services. Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and SKC provide transplants to patients more than any other unit in the UAE. Transplantation surgeries are performed mostly in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) by a dedicated transplant team. If kidney transplantation is not an immediate choice, then all modalities of dialysis including in-centre hemodialysis will be offered to the patient. SKC is the only nephrology facility across Abu Dhabi that provides all forms of peritoneal dialysis.SKC dialysis machines have real-time smart monitoring connectivity with data analytics to improve management for dialysis patients.
SKC supports more than 180,000 hemodialysis sessions per year and more than 100 Peritoneal Dialysis patients. SKC has recently launched home dialysis treatment for patients with limited mobility and overnight hemodialysis that offers the patients more time to themselves during the day.
Named after the first and oldest Emirati nurse Salma Al Sharhan, Salma Rehabilitation Hospital is the only dedicated holistic paediatric rehabilitation facility in the UAE. Salma Rehabilitation Hospital is a purpose-built government hospital that offers a wide range of medical, nursing, rehabilitation and personalised therapy services. Established in 2003, Al Rahba Hospital is a 166-bed advanced secondary care government facility. Al Rahba’s advanced emergency department serves more than 200 patients daily, harnessing advanced technology such as a multi-slice CT scanner, designed to provide specialist care in trauma cases. The Outpatient Department has 18 specialties.
Al Dhafra Hospitals serve the diverse medical needs of many thousands of people living and working in Abu Dhabi’s most remote communities – from the far western corner of the UAE to the inland desert border regions and the offshore island. The National Rehabilitation Center (NRC), established in 2002, utilises the latest scientific methods to provide treatment and rehabilitation for drug addiction. Its specialty areas include setting up research and training centres, conducting seminars, conferences, workshops and training programs, awarding certifications in accordance with the relevant legislations,patient monitoring and follow-up, and establishing necessary programs to meet the evolving needs of patients.
Zayed Military Hospital is the exclusive Military Hospital in the country, providing medical services to the personnel and families of the U.A.E. Armed Forces. The Zayed Military Hospital is a 365-bed tertiary care hospital, including an ICU, Burn ICU, Cardiac Care Unit, medical, surgical, and paediatric beds. Also, the hospital has a psychiatric centre located in a separate building.
The JCI-accredited hospital has the most modern technological equipment available in its department and highly-skilled internationally trained staff. There are also two satellite hospitals each with 120 beds in Sharjah and Al Ain.

Burjeel Hospital, a leading private Tertiary Care Hospital in Abu Dhabi opened for patients in April 2012. Burjeel Medical City is the Reference Site for Elekta and Novalis Certified Radiosurgery Centers. The hospital’s multidisciplinary team of emergency physicians provides 24-hour emergency services to adult and paediatric patients.
