Consultant Plastic Surgeon (Burns)

Position Description:

A leading medical institution in Abu Dhabi is seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Consultant Plastic Surgeon specializing in burn care and reconstructive surgery. This role requires expertise in managing acute burn injuries, advanced reconstructive techniques, and long-term rehabilitation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Western healthcare systems, bringing world-class expertise and innovation to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, treat, and manage a full spectrum of burn injuries, including acute, post-acute, and chronic stages.
  • Perform advanced reconstructive procedures such as skin grafting, flap techniques, and complex scar revisions.
  • Design and execute individualized treatment plans focusing on functional and aesthetic recovery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including critical care specialists, physical therapists, and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Lead the establishment and implementation of protocols and guidelines for burn care excellence.
  • Participate in clinical research and contribute to advancements in burn treatment and reconstructive surgery.
  • Mentor junior surgeons and provide leadership in developing surgical teams.
  • Ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi healthcare regulations while upholding the highest standards of safety and patient-centered care.

Requirements:

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Plastic Surgery with subspecialty training in burns or reconstructive surgery.
  • Western education and/or training in a recognized healthcare system (e.g., USA, UK, Canada, or equivalent) is mandatory.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon specializing in burns.
  • Proven expertise in complex surgical techniques for burn reconstruction and post-burn rehabilitation.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a multidisciplinary and family-centered approach to care.
  • Eligibility for DOH licensing to practice in Abu Dhabi.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical excellence.
